230 Mauritius crew arrive in Genoa, Italy to embark MSC Cruise ships
Crew called to resume service onboard MSC Cruises at the poprt of Genoa Italy. They left Mauritius on a charter flight on July 29th, most of the crew will board MSC Grandiosa.
The ship arrived at the port on July 28th, although the final approval which is expected by the government of Italy will be called to decide whether or not to grant permission to cruises amid COVID-19 Pandemic.
According to Leonardo Massa, the company was ready to resume operations and they were only waiting for approval of the authorities. They have worked on establishing a Health protocol to guarantee safety of guest and crew, these protocol was already approved by the Scientific and technical committee organism which implements the European Regulations of the EU Healthy Gateways.
The Managing Director added that staffing a cruise ship was a long and expensive operation, getting all these crew ready and back to the ships takes on average a moth or so, 1000 plus crew members is a great logistical task, also, over a thousand seafarers from Italy are involved in the operation.
Only awaiting for the approval the Italian authorities which hopefully will arrive with council on July 31st.
