What Happens After You Get a Cruise Ship Job Offer?
Step by step — what to expect after being selected for a cruise ship job, from document collection to boarding day.
You passed the interview. You received the good news. Now what? Here is exactly what happens between a job offer and boarding day.
Step 1: Conditional Offer
The offer is conditional on completing all required documents and medical clearance. This is standard across all cruise lines.
Step 2: Document Collection
Your Selective Crew coordinator sends you a full checklist: passport, police clearance, C1/D visa, medical certificate, and Security Awareness certificate.
Step 3: Medical Examination
Pre-employment medical exam at an approved clinic. Cost is reimbursed onboard. Allow 1 to 2 weeks.
Step 4: C1/D Visa (if required)
Required for ships departing US ports. Fee approximately USD 185, reimbursed onboard. Processing takes 2 to 8 weeks.
Step 5: Joining Instructions
Once all documents are approved, you receive ship name, port, joining date, and flight details. Flight is arranged and paid by the company.
How Long Does It Take?
From conditional offer to boarding: 6 to 12 weeks. Selective Crew stays with you through every single step.
